For lecturers
How to use Engimations in a lecture, tutorial or learning platform.
What every topic gives you
- Learning outcomes you can copy into a lesson plan.
- Theory with the equations written out and the usual sign conventions stated.
- A worked example with given data, steps and a check on the answer.
- An interactive model for live demonstration or student exploration.
- Practice problems with answers, hidden until the student chooses to show them.
- Lecturer notes: a suggested timing, an in-class activity, a discussion question and an assessment idea.
Link to a topic
Every topic has a fixed address of the form
learn/<branch>/<topic>.html. You can
paste it into a syllabus, slide or message. Heading links such
as #lecturer-notes and #model jump to
a section.
Embed a model in slides or a learning platform
Every model has a stand-alone page that is designed to sit
inside an iframe. On any topic, press
Copy embed code under the model and paste it into Moodle,
Canvas, Blackboard, Google Sites or any page that accepts HTML.
If your platform will not accept HTML, link to the
Full screen page instead.
<iframe src="https://YOUR-SITE/embed/strength-of-materials/sfd-bmd.html"
width="100%" height="560" style="border:0" loading="lazy"
title="Shear force and bending moment model"></iframe>
Projecting and printing
- Use the moon button in the header to switch to a dark theme in a dark lecture room.
- The Print button gives a clean handout without menus; practice answers stay hidden so it works as a problem sheet.
- The formula sheet collects every key formula on one printable page.
Students and privacy
Students do not need an account or to enter any information. Progress ticks are stored only in the student’s own browser. See the privacy notice.
Accuracy and scope
The models use standard textbook assumptions (linear elastic behaviour, small deflections, ideal fluids and gases) and are teaching aids, not design tools. Topic content follows the usual first- and second-year order, but please check it against your own syllabus. If you find an error, contact us using the details on the privacy page.
